Floral Preservation

From weddings and celebrations to moments of remembrance, we transform blooms into keepsakes meant to be held and remembered.

What is floral preservation?

Floral preservation is the process of carefully drying and transforming fresh flowers into lasting botanical artwork. Through specialized techniques, blooms are preserved in a way that allows their form, texture, and natural beauty to be enjoyed long after their moment has passed.

At Nurturing with Nature, floral preservation is approached as both a craft and an art form. Each arrangement is thoughtfully taken apart, dried slowly, and reimagined into a custom design that reflects the original flowers and the story they carry.

Preserved flowers are not meant to look frozen in time. As blooms dry, colors may soften or deepen, petals may shift, and natural variations occur. These changes are part of the preservation process and contribute to the organic, timeless character of each piece.

Floral preservation allows meaningful flowers — from weddings, memorials, anniversaries, or life milestones — to be transformed into keepsakes meant to be displayed, held, and remembered for years to come.

Our floral preservation process

Each floral preservation piece begins with care, patience, and respect for the flowers you entrust to us. Because every bloom carries meaning, our process is intentionally slow and handled entirely by hand.

1. Receiving Your Flowers

Flowers may be dropped off locally or shipped to the studio following our care instructions. Timing is important, and blooms should be sent as soon as possible after your event to ensure the best preservation results.

2. Careful Preparation

Once received, flowers are gently assessed, cleaned, and taken apart. Each stem, petal, and element is prepared individually to support proper drying and long-term stability.

3. Slow Drying Process

Flowers are dried gradually using professional preservation techniques that allow them to retain their shape and structure. This stage can take several weeks, depending on flower type and moisture content.

4. Design & Layout

After drying, preserved blooms are thoughtfully arranged into a custom composition. Designs are created to honor the original bouquet while allowing the flowers to guide the final layout naturally.

5. Finishing & Framing

Once the design is complete, flowers are secured into their final frame or keepsake. Each piece is sealed and finished with care, creating a lasting botanical artwork ready to be displayed.

Because every flower behaves differently, timelines and results vary slightly with each preservation. This natural variation is part of what makes every piece one of a kind.

FAQs

How soon do my flowers need to be shipped or dropped off?

1

Flowers should be delivered or shipped within 24–48 hours of your event for best results. The sooner they arrive, the more successful the preservation process will be.

Do the flowers look exactly the same once dried?

2

Preserved flowers will not look identical to their fresh state. As flowers dry, natural changes occur. Colors may soften, deepen, or shift, and petals may become more delicate. These changes are a normal and beautiful part of preservation.

Can all flowers be preserved?

3

Most flowers can be preserved, but some varieties dry better than others. Delicate blooms, thick-stemmed flowers, or heavily hydrated varieties may experience more change. We’re happy to review your bouquet and discuss what will preserve best.

How long does the process take?

4

The full process typically takes 8–10 weeks, depending on flower types, drying time, and design complexity. Because each piece is made by hand, timelines may vary.

Will my preserved flowers last forever?

5

Preserved flowers are long-lasting but not permanent. With proper care and display away from direct sunlight and humidity, your artwork can be enjoyed for many years.

Do you offer shipping?

6

Finished preservation pieces can be shipped or arranged for local pickup. Shipping costs and options will be discussed prior to completion.

How much does floral preservation cost?

7

Floral preservation pieces begin at $250, with final pricing based on frame size, design complexity, and the amount of florals being preserved. Each piece is custom created using your flowers, so pricing varies depending on the vision and materials involved.
